Greens Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region, Robin Chapple MLC, has called for the urgent dismissal of the Environmental Protection Agency Board Members.
"I have questioned the State Government on the inappropriate nature of the structure of the EPA board on several occasions in Parliament, and the Environment Minister has deliberately misled the public in his replies," Mr Chapple said.
"I am astounded that members of the EPA board were appointed when they were engaged in consultancy in resource and industrial activity!
"And now we are faced with the farcical situation where 25 projects were assessed by EPA board members that had conflict of interests, including share interests in the companies that were the subject of approvals.
"But it gets even worse! The Environment Minister is not only standing by this farcical process but is trying to bring in retrospective legislation that breaks the simple rule of law.
"Is Minister Jacob seeking to validate decisions that were not legitimately made?
"I call upon the government to reappoint the EPA board with members that will look after the interests of our community and not their own pockets."
