VOLUNTARY EUTHANASIA DEBATE STARTS!

September 15, 2003 - In an interesting twist to the legislative program, Mr Chapple, Greens MLC, found his Euthanasia legislation being debated last Thursday.

The legislation will not be debated again until December 2003, when the Greens again have Private Members time. 'The debate has started off predictably with 3 speakers presenting a 'doom and gloom' perspective of the legislation, and one member speaking in support of the legislation', advised Mr Chapple.

Over the next few weeks, it is hoped that we can provide information to all members of the Legislative Council that the bill is not the start of what is referred to some as the 'slippery slope'. I will advise when the legislation will be debated again in Parliament, Mr Chapple confirmed.
