Energy Storage Win for West Australians

Monday, 16 November

WA Greens spokesperson on Energy, Robin Chapple MLC, has congratulated the government for amending their policy to allow for batteries and electric vehicles to be installed, and the electricity that they produce exported to the grid.

“I raised the issue in Parliament earlier this year that there was a provision in Synergy customer agreements that prohibited them from installing a household battery, or an electric car,” Mr Chapple said.

“Thankfully, logic has prevailed and the government has very quickly amended its use of language in this agreement to allow for the use of new battery technologies.

“The Greens WA see batteries as the way of the future, and are currently reviewing our state vision for energy, Energy 2029, to incorporate these wonderful innovations.

"Battery storage systems are going to completely revolutionise the way that we use energy, offering West Australians the opportunity to simultaneously save money and cut their household emissions.”

Mr Chapple is speaking on solar and battery policy and regulation panel at the West Australian Solar and Battery conference today in Perth.
